Introduction

Killarney Mechanical Service (KMS) was formed in January 1991 by Jim O’ Brien, Jerome Kennedy and Denis O’ Shea. The company specialises in Industrial, Commercial, Domestic and Sustainable Mechanical Services Projects. KMS are based in Farranfore, Killarney, County Kerry and have successfully completed some of the largest Mechanical Services Projects in the Munster Region and beyond. In addition to project work the company has built up a full aftersales planned preventative maintenance (PPM) service offering. PPM contracts now form a large part of the day to day running of the KMS.

In 1996, KMS changed from a sole trader to Limited Company. The company continued to grow adding quality accreditations and staff training with apprenticeships. The company’s service offering and experience developed further branching into the growing hospitality sector in the county and hospital sector with routine maintenance. In 2024, KMS was acquired by mechanical services company, T Bourke. Remaining directors Jim O’Brien and Jerome Kennedy retired and Oliver McCarthy was appointed as General Manager. The company continues to develop and strengthen its team with registered gas installers (RGI) service offering and developing its renewable plant experience with heat pump servicing.
